This year 2021, Szczawno-Zdrój celebrates the 800th anniversary of its foundation. To mark this occasion, at the end of April, in the Henryk Wieniawski Zdrój Theatre, the first edition of a new international “Szczawno-Zdrój Baroque Festival” will take place, showcasing the performances of early compositional works.
As a part of the festival, we will hear seven concertos: 3 harpsichord recitals, 3 chamber concertos; and the event will be rounded off with an oratorio concerto. The music of the 17th and 18th centuries will be performed from places such as the Kingdom of Spain and the Kingdom of Naples, the Netherlands and Germany; and from the court of King Louis XIV of France (the Sun King). 53 musicians from 9 countries will perform, including world-famous stars such as Olga Pasiecznik (soprano), Peter Kooij (bass) or Artemandoline Baroque Ensemble.
The artistic direction of the Festival is performed by
Władysław Kłosiewicz – harpsichordists, conductor and an expert on old music interpretation.
The Honorary Patronage over the Event was taken by:
Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship – Cezary Przybylski
Deputy Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship – Grzegorz Macko
Mayor of Szczawno-Zdrój – Marek Fedoruk
All concerts at the Zdrój Theatre will be recorded and filmed by the Ars Sonora Studio and later made available on the Internet. Regardless of the restrictions related to the epidemic, making it difficult or impossible for audiences to be present within the theatre, it is also planned to broadcast the concerts on the screen in the Walking Hall, located in the parkland space of the Zdrój Theatre.
On behalf of the Organizers, we kindly invite you to meet the music and culture of the Baroque era.
